Electra: Queen of Revenge (electroacoustic music/sound design for theatre, 1999)

This version, written by Clare Venables uses the Greek traditional cast of three, two actors and one singer, with the chorus being represented by a soundscape, mixed on stage and consisting of recorded and live music. Pre-recorded images and live video footage form a visual backdrop.
Electra was co-commissioned by the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow and the Paisley Arts Centre, Electra was first performed with Kate Dickie, Flemish singer Eurudike De Beul and Steven Beard in 1999 and toured South America and Europe with performances at the Iberoamericano Festival (Bogota), Centro Historico Festival (Mexico City), Fundateneo Festival (Caracas), Celtes de Mondes (Quimper, France), Fresh from the Fest (Dublin, Kilkenny and Galway, Ireland) and the Edinburgh Festival (Scotland).
